Business charity BW3 is celebrating the delivery of another Numbers at Work programme, thanks to the support of a number of local businesses.
Numbers at Work sees businesses go into schools to deliver interactive sessions that show how valuable maths skills are in the real world.
Bespoke tasks have been created by a number of companies, including Manchester Airport, Together Money and Cardinal Global Logistics, as well as Manchester City Council.
Also taking part in this year’s programme were Microsoft, Mace, Floorbrite, Family Action and Wythenshawe Hospital.
The challenges include balancing the council’s budget, or planning an overseas trip and aim to get young people to use the maths they have learned in school in a real world setting.
More than 30 pupils who have just completed their SATs – all from St Elizabeth’s Primary School – benefited from this latest session.
Ciaran Knight, Deputy Head at St Elizabeth’s said ” it was a fantastic morning and a great reward for the year 6’s after their SATS. We feel really fortunate to have had Numbers At Work in school again”
