Partnership launched across BBC, Granada and Sky Sports News
BW3 is proud to announce a new strategic partnership with Baguley Athletic Football Club, chaired by former England international David Platt.
The partnership officially launched yesterday across regional and national media, including coverage on BBC North West Tonight, Granada Reports and a live
interview on Sky Sports News featuring David Platt discussing the new collaboration and its impact on the local community.
The partnership brings together two organisations with strong roots in Wythenshawe and a shared commitment to creating positive opportunities for young people and strengthening the local community.
As part of the collaboration, BW3 branding will feature on the Baguley Athletic first team kit. It will also see former Aston Villa and Arsenal star David Platt, members of the Baguley first team and club representatives work alongside BW3 to deliver inspiring activities with local schools and young people throughout the academic year.
Creating opportunities and raising aspirations
BW3 channels the volunteer efforts of businesses across Wythenshawe to help raise aspirations in young people, broaden horizons and support them towards future education and employment opportunities, helping them reach their full potential.
Through this new partnership, David Platt and members of the Baguley Athletic first team will support a range of engagement activities designed to inspire young people and showcase positive pathways into education, employment and sport.
The partnership will also create new opportunities for businesses and community leaders to come together in support of grassroots sport, youth development and social impact across Wythenshawe.
Launching the BW3 Lunch Club Series
As part of the partnership, BW3 and Baguley Athletic will launch a new exclusive, intimate Lunch Club series.
The events will give a small number of guests the opportunity to hear from David Platt about his experiences in elite football and leadership, while exploring how businesses can play a greater role in supporting young people into employment and positive futures.
The series will kick off with a sample event in June, with further details of the Lunch Club series to be announced soon.
Working together to strengthen the community
The partnership will also include a range of joint fundraising and community activities, helping both organisations extend their impact across Wythenshawe.
This will include participation in BW3’s annual Fire Engine Pull fundraising challenge.
Speaking about the partnership, David Platt said:
“As a club born in the heart of Wythenshawe, it is important to us to develop strong ties with the community.
“We are aware of the amazing work BW3 delivers all year round and how that benefits many people connected with our club – as friends and family of players and officials or of our supporters.
“That’s why this partnership made so much sense to us and we are excited to see where it can take us together.”
BW3 Chair Adam Jupp added:
“We are honoured Baguley Athletic has chosen BW3 to work with and proud to see our logo on the front of its first team shirts.
“But this partnership is about much more than that – it is about two like-minded organisations coming together to improve the economic and social wellbeing in an area we care so deeply about.
“We know sports players can be such a source of inspiration for young people and we look forward to delivering some engaging initiatives with the schools we partner with. I also can’t wait to launch our Lunch Club series, which is sure to be popular and hugely insightful.”
