A business battle of brawn helped raise more than £5,000 to boost the career aspirations of young people.
On Thursday 20th July, the annual BW3 Truck Pull was held outside Cardinal Global Logistics, in Wythenshawe.
It saw teams of six competitors from five different organisations pull an 18-tonne truck 20 metres in the fastest time possible.
Each team had three attempts to pull the truck and the best average time won the overall prize. The five teams who competed were:
-
BW3’s Formidable Committee
-
Wythenshawe Titans, from the Wythenshawe Community Housing Group
-
N.G Pencil Pushers, from Newall Green Primary School
-
Pull The Other One, a team of firefighters from Manchester Airport
-
Endress & Hauser
Wiggles Pizza, a local company from Wythenshawe, were also selling pizzas and drinks at the event. A live screening of the England VS Denmark Euros football match was also held.
The overall winner was Pull The Other One, which had both the fastest individual time and the best average.

All competitors had to raise sponsorship to compete in the event and BW3 can proudly announce £5,590 was raised.
All funds will help boost the work of BW3, which delivers a series of programmes to young people in Wythenshawe.
Businesses volunteer their time to carry out mentoring and other programmes that raise aspirations in young people and give them career pathways.
BW3 chair Adam Jupp said: “This year’s truck pull was another fantastic event and the money raised will help BW3 to continue supporting Wythenshawe’s young people to reach their full potential. We cannot thank everyone who took part enough for their support and those who sponsored participants for their generosity and kindness.“Hopefully, we will see all of our teams again next year, along with some new competitors too and we can make it better than ever before.”
